Atheism And You

Atheism is starting to get a bit of a swell behind it lately. I wouldn't go so far as to say a ground swell just yet, but maybe soon.

Richard Dawkin's God Delusion really went a long way to turning religion into a debate of intelligence - over 1.5 million copies sold is a pretty good impression of the reality of atheism.

The next big leap in this bid of reality to drown out fallacy is in my belief going to be the release of the new documentary movie Religulous, staring comedian and political commentator Bill Maher. The trailer and a statement by Bill and Director Larry Charles can be found HERE. While the movie will no doubt be funny to those of us who are atheist, it is also scary how deeply rooted these ancient mythologies are in today's society and how influential they are on the events of today.

I urge everybody to view this movie with open minds...but not so open your brain falls out (thanks Richard D!). And for the athiests out there - I urge you to watch it as many times as you can at the cinema. Lets get this on the hit movie lists, and raise the profile of the debate even higher.
